Veracruz, See. 29 July of 2016.- During the work of the X Reunión Ordinaria de la Comisión Interamericana de Puertos CIP-OEA, held yesterday in the city of Montevideo, Uruguay, Mexico was elected by acclamation to lead this important Advisory Body of the OAS for the period 2016-2018.
This responsibility fell to the person of the General Coordinator of Ports and Merchant Marine of the Secretariat of Communications and Transportation, Guillermo Ruiz de Teresa. Similarly our country was chosen to head the Chair of the Advisory Technical Committee -CTC- Port Management, Sustainability and Environmental Protection, CTC one of the six available to the CIP.
The X Reunión Ordinaria de la CIP, It culminated with the full approval of the 35 countries in the region with the "Declaration and Plan of Action of Montevideo (2016-2018)"Where the importance of the work of the CIP as a hemispheric forum for ongoing technical ratified on ports.
In this context the relevance of the Inter-American Forum Successful Experiences in Port Development and its contribution to the dissemination of these practices in this area was highlighted. the progress and accomplishments of the "Cartagena Action Plan also reviewed (2014-2016)”.
