The Port of Veracruz continues successfully in the quality branch implementation PDF Print E-mail

Veracruz, Ver, January 12, 2011.- The Port of Veracruz progresses in the quality branch implementation on containers, it has the objective to improve the competitiveness, safety and the service quality to its customers.

 

So far, there has accomplished four of the ten phases planned, said Juan Ignacio Fernandez Carbajal (JIFC), APIVER Director.

In an interview, highlighted the port community, importers and exporters participation, who, through an internal and external diagnosis is (phase 2) allowed to determiner the current status from the port operation and also by giving their views.

As a result from this diagnosis bases at first 7 lines of improvement, starting on the inspection and certifications job from the authorities to containers.

To attend this matter a working group was set up, conformed by all the people involved in this process, with the objective to improve the process; in another lines of improvement will require the creations of more  working groups.

JIFC described some other advances that the working group had and that they are reporting them to a quality branch subcommittee, this was created on the 3ro phase with primary function on making decision about the improvement, revision and approval  processes.

The subcommittee is integrated by authorities, association, and ort companies such as customs, custom brokers, harbor master, Icave, Cice, and APIVER  in the same way, phase 4 was developed by making a process guide and was proposed several indicator in order to held the processes improvement, In addition to this, as part of the same phase  a study tour was done to the port of Barcelona, wit the objective that the port community from Veracruz get to know better the quality branch process from that port.

In that study group there were APIVER, custom, harbor master, Icave, Cice and Ferrosur representatives.

JIFC stated that now days the quality branch implementation plan is in its fifth phase, and when this phase get to be completes it is expected to have the warranties amount that are going to be given to the customers through the service a handbooks

The project completion in containers, is due the month of November 2011, however  the Port  will go on the quality branch implementation in other kind of cargo such as cars or agro bulk.
